Fingering is a vital element of piano playing: a good fingering gives us much greater security and can often make a technically difficult passage suddenly seem effortless. Musically speaking, it can also shape a phrase, balance chords, regulate the tone and rhythm, co-ordinate the hands, clarify the articulation, and project many subtle musical nuances.
