These measures serve as the transition to the second theme area. Play them first in this reduction, taking special care to ingrain the fingering. The rhythmic beaming in measures 19 – 21 has been changed to show the musical grouping, which the hairpin dynamics also serve to underscore. A suggested interpretation of the trill in measure 22 is written out. Next, add the figuration in the right hand.
