Examples with Single and Double Rotations
I have chosen three subjects from Bach’s Two-Part Inventions to illustrate the mix of single and double rotations we will typically find in the repertoire. I have marked these examples up to aim to minimise any confusion. Single rotations are slurred and beamed together (this is not intended to show articulation); double rotations are written as longer note values (in the alternative views). Pause on the long notes as long as you need to focus, remembering to check that your hand is level (no tilting) as you hold the note.
