Basic Principles
We are now moving on to double rotations. We’ll look in more detail later, so don’t worry if this is a bit confusing to start with. Passages where notes move in opposite directions from each other (such as Alberti basses, trills, etc.) require single rotations. As we’ve seen from the previous examples, single rotations move from right to left, or right to left. We are now going to look at double rotations, necessary when the notes move in the same direction (scale patterns, etc.).
