Introduction
Grieg wrote sixty-six Lyric Pieces, collected in ten opus numbers that were published over a thirty-four year period (1867 to 1901). They were immensely popular in their time, for they combine musical sophistication, poetic sensitivity, and a great variety of moods, while still remaining accessible to amateur pianists.
