Legato Touches

The Two-note Slur (Drop-roll)

All previous exercises have been about non-legato touches. We will now move onto developing legato. Using an ascending scale of C we drop into our 2nd finger, gripping the key but remaining completely free in the arm. Then hinge up through the wrist (see 4 above), allowing the 3rd finger to trip its key on the upward release. It is one motion that takes in two notes. The wrist remains completely free throughout. As you descend, you will be connecting from the 3rd finger to the 2nd.
