Fantasie-Impromptu in C-Sharp Minor (Op. 66)

Walkthrough (5)

Applying the Exercise

Here we apply the alternating RH-LH approach, using a metronome to maintain a very strict, stable pulse. Cycle through the hand alternations a half-bar at a time, one hand after the other. Whenever you feel the time is right, try hands together. It’s bound to wrong, so don’t get disillusioned. Repeat the separate alternations until it goes from the impossible stage to the easy stage. This might take several days. While you learn the coordination necessary to play the piece, be patient with yourself and try not to get frustrated.
