Meters with Half-Note Beats (7)

We tend to think of time signatures with quarter-note beats—2/4, 3/4, and 4/4—as the norm, and perhaps these meters are in fact the most common ones. Nevertheless, it is not uncommon to find meters that use the half note as the beat, or the eighth note, or indeed any of the other rhythmic values. Because we are so used to attributing the beat to the quarter note, we sometimes feel a bit less comfortable with these other meters.
